I-10 Freeway in DTLA Closed Due to Fire Damage – Expect Delays

Posted on 11/11/2023

UPDATE: The I-10 Freeway will be FULLY CLOSED until the end of November between the 110 Freeway & Alameda Street due to the fire damage on the freeway. Please avoid the area if possible, and use Metro and public transit to avoid the I-10 closure in DTLA.

To help ease traffic, the LADOT has announced that all its Commuter Express routes will be free to ride until further notice.

At 12:22 AM on November 11, 2023 the Los Angeles City Fire Department responded to a reported fire in the 1700 block of E 14th Street in Downtown Los Angeles. Ultimately, over 164 firefighters successfully extinguished the fire and successfully defended three commercial buildings from damage. However, fire damage to the freeway will cause that portion of the freeway to remain closed while CalTrans District 7 investigates the stability of the freeway.

Commuters are urged to avoid the I-10 Freeway between the East LA Connector and Alameda Street while the investigation continues. For updates on road-closures, alternate route suggestions, and additional transportation options please visit emergency.lacity.gov/updates.
