It’s nearly Fourth of July! Have you decided where you’ll be enjoying fireworks this year? If your plans are still up in the air, here are some fun transit-accessible events to consider:
- 4th of July Community Festival and Fireworks Show at Exposition Park: Enjoy a day of games, food, music and more. The festival is free and open to all ages. Event starts 11 a.m. through 10 p.m. Fireworks begin approximately 9 p.m. Take the Expo Line to the Expo Park/USC Station or Expo/Vermont Station. Note: Show your TAP card at the CD 9 Info Booth and receive a free tote bag.
- 4th of July Block Party at Grand Park: Music, food and a fireworks display launched into the DTLA skyline! The event is free and open to all ages. Doors open at 3 p.m. and fireworks start at approximately 9 p.m. Take the Red or Purple Line to Civic Center/Grand Park Station and use the 1st Street exit, or take the Gold Line to Little Tokyo/Arts District Station — it’s just a short walk, bike or scooter ride to The Music Center. Note: DTLA buses will be detouring in the area.
- Dodgers 4th of July Fireworks: Is there anything better than a night of baseball followed by fireworks? The game starts at 6:10 p.m. against San Diego Padres. Tickets start at $32. Take the Dodger Stadium Express from Union Station or Harbor Gateway Transit Center.
- Hollywood Bowl’s July 4th Fireworks Spectacular with Nile Rodgers & CHIC: Make it a funky Fourth with disco’s greatest hitmakers! The show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $25. Take the Red Line to Hollywood/Highland Station and walk up the hill, or transfer to the Bowl shuttle. Transfers are free with valid TAP card.
It costs $3.50 in stored value to ride Metro roundtrip, plus $2 for a reusable TAP card. The fare includes two hours of free transfers if you need to ride more than one line. Remember to tap your own card before each boarding, including at transfer stations.
Metro will operate on Sunday/holiday schedule on Fourth of July Thursday. This means buses that do not run on Sunday will not run on July 4. However, Metro Rail will run enhanced service to support those heading out to celebrate on the Fourth:
- Red, Blue and Expo Line: trains every 12 minutes until 11 p.m.
- Gold Line: trains every 12 minutes until 10:30 p.m.
