The Economic Workforce Development Department operates WorkSource Centers across LA that act as your personal employment agency and are offered to adults, dislocated workers, Veterans, the homeless and the re-entry population.
All services are free and include: job training, telephone and computer access, and literacy skills workshops; career guidance, employment referrals and customized job matching; and development of resume and interview skills.
The LA Public Library hosts many events and workshops to help you explore careers, build your skills, and find your next job. The Central Library in downtown LA (630 W. Fifth St) also hosts a career center which offers an array of free services including one-on-one guidance with trained staff and free use of computer equipment and a printer/scanner/fax machine for job seeking activities.

L.A. Youth at Work (LAYAW) is an initiative to help Los Angeles's young adults obtain crucial entry-level job training and work experiences. Through experience, youth are empowered with the tools to obtain and retain meaningful employment, and to educate and encourage business to invest in their communities by creating job and internship opportunities.
The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) provides an opportunity for unemployed seniors to return to the competitive job market through work experience and job training programs. SCSEP provides subsidized, temporary, part-time, community service work-based training for low-income persons age 55 or older who are unemployed and trying to re-enter the job market. The Veterans Initiative Program (VIP) is a veterans’ employment program offered at all EWDD WorkSource Centers and is specifically designed to help vets secure employment through personalized career consultation, job training and placement, job retention services and more.
