The Metropolitan Transportation Authority launched the pilot phase of its bike share program on July 7. The program will allow users to check out bikes for short trips and return it in another location and will be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, all year. Metro officials hope that this will become a popular option for tourists and residents to explore the City and even help with their daily commutes.

The bike share program will begin its pilot phase with 1,000 bikes at 65 docking stations around downtown Los Angeles but will expand to more areas around the City as demand grows.
