L.A. Controller Ron Galperin released "LGBTQ+ Pride: Toward Equality & Equity", an online story map with data and visualizations showing the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning/queer (LGBTQ+) community. Controller Galperin noted that, during the last year, at least 66% of LGBTQ+ households reported serious financial problems due to the pandemic, as opposed to 44% of non-LGBTQ+ households. And 20% of LGBTQ+ households experienced food insecurity, compared to 6% of non-LGBTQ+ households.

The online tool also honors the rich and diverse history of L.A.'s LGBTQ+ community, details priorities in the ongoing struggle for equality and equity, and maps dozens of service organizations throughout the area that provide housing, health resources, education programs, legal help, and nutrition assistance to homeless and at-risk youth.

Controller Galperin is the first openly gay citywide elected official in Los Angeles. Follow him at @LAController on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
