Brush Fire Reported At Griffith Park

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a reported brush fire of approximately 2 acres of grass and light vegetation burning in the southeast section of  Griffith Park just northwest of the Griffith Observatory on 7/10/18 at 2:09PM.  When initially reported, There were no immediate threats to structures identified.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. LAFD, LAPD and Park Rangers ask hikers, bicyclists, equestrians and motorists to avoid any urge to sightsee near the fire, and to avoid the immediate area of the blaze until firefighting operations are complete; The LAFD responders do NOT need (and must politely decline) any food or water donations, as the Department anticipates and fulfills their many human and operational needs

UPDATE: LAFD Officals announced the Griffith Fire was 100% contained as of 7/11/18 at 7:00 AM. The fire had grown to 25 acres but no structures were threatened and no injuries were reported. The Griffith Observatory will remain closed until further notice.
