Description
The City of Los Angeles, Bureau of Sanitation operates four treatment and water reclamation plants that serve over 4 million people within two service areas covering over 600 square miles. The Hyperion Treatment Plant is the largest and oldest of the four treatment plants with an average dry-weather flow of 320 million gallons per day.
Tours of the Hyperion Treatment Plant are offered as part of the Plant's education and public outreach program and are provided to community and academic groups (sixth grade students and up), scientific and industry professionals, and delegates and dignitaries from foreign countries. Tours are provided at no cost to the attendees, whose only expense is transportation to and from the Plant.
Tours are given by appointment only, Monday to Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
