ABOUT
US
The Solid Resources Support Services Division
(SRSSD) comprises
approximately 224 technical, professional, and operations staff. SRSSD
provides critical and
on-going technical, planning and supportive operations to the Bureau
of Sanitation refuse,
recyclable materials, and yard trimmings collection and disposal services.
In addition, the
SRSSD provides a wide range of information regarding collection and
disposal policies and
practices to residents and continually promotes efforts to improve
customer relations and the
level of service provided on a day-to day basis. In order to accomplish
this function, the
SRSSD studies and evaluates numerous advanced technologies, evaluates
alternative
disposal methods for solid waste, improves data management, develops
and implements
customer relation programs, operates a customer service call center,
develops and
implements a variety of safety and training programs for solid collection
truck operators and
other employees, manages the systematic collection container distribution
and container
replacement programs, directs the evaluation and implementation of
the alternative fuel
program for the Bureau of Sanitation 700 vehicle collection fleet and
initiates improvements
to and replacement of existing collection yards.

achieve and maintain a standard of excellence in technical
support and planning that will enable the Bureau of Sanitation
Solid Resources collection operations to provide timely, efficient,
and cost-effective collection, recycling and disposal services
to the residents of the City of Los Angeles. |

It
is the stated mission of the Support Services Division to provide
professional, dynamic, reliable and creative support to the
Bureau of Sanitation collection operations through the continued
evaluation and application of advanced technologies, best management
practices, alternative methods for the collection, recycling
and disposal of solid waste, customer outreach and education,
and sound environmental practice and policy. |
