ABOUT US

The Bureau’s infrastructure and treatment facilities are subject to local, state, and federal legislation and regulations intended to protect public health and the environment.

The legislative and regulatory challenges are extensive and in a continuous state of development and revision. The City must have a mechanism to assess legislation and regulatory requirements and to develop strategies and appropriate response policies in a timely manner.

VISION

To be a leading technical and regulatory resource that provides strategic and effective guidance for the protection of public health and the environment while balancing socio-economic considerations with City and community needs and aspirations.

MISSION

To assist the Bureau in identifying, understanding, and responding to existing, emerging and evolving environmental issues, policies, legislation, and regulations to ensure that they are reasonably achievable, and scientifically based, while partnering with regulatory agencies, environmental groups, City offices and other affected stakeholders.
