The City has completed an audit of our biosolids EMS program. The re-verification audit was performed on August 12-15, 2008, by the independent audit firm, KEMA-Registered Quality Inc. The auditors verified that the City’s biosolids program meets the requirements of National Biosolids Partnership (NBP) EMS program and recommended continued certification in the NBP EMS program at the Platinum Level status. The City of Los Angeles is continuously investigating, developing, and implementing changes to our biosolids management program. In order to maintain a program that is environmentally sound, protective of public health and the environment, and cost-effective we implement changes to our program. We are committed to keep you informed and involved in our program. Listed below are program updates and changes. Contact us for more information about these items.
- 2008 Biosolids EMS audit –The City conducted a third party re-verification audit of our program on August 12-15, 2008. The audit was performed by an independent third party. The auditor verified that the City’s biosolids environmental management system meets the expections and requirements of the NBP EMS program and recommended continued certification of our program at the Platinum Level status. - 2007 Biosolids Performance Report –We have completed our 2007 Biosolids Performance Report. Click HERE to view the report.
- TIRE Update – The City has begun injecting biosolids into the wells. The biosolids are being pumped up to ten hours per day five days a week. The wells are being monitored and data is being analyzed. For more information click here.
- Goals and Objectives – The City has set new goals and objectives for the biosolids program for fiscal year 2008-2009. Click here to view a list of objectives.
- Program Internal Review –-The City completed an internal review of our biosolids program and we are using the findings to update and improve our program in preparation for the upcoming third party audit in August. To view a summary of findings from the internal review click here.
- Management options – The City recently completed several concept reports on biosolids management options to assist with diversifying our program.
