Description
Household hazardous waste are common household chemicals such as paints, motor oil, other automotive products, pesticides, flammable cleaning products, and computer monitors, that can harm the environment if not disposed/recycled properly. If thrown in the trash, they can contaminate the groundwater; and if thrown in stormdrains, they can contaminate ocean shorelines. Residents may bring these materials to Household Hazardous Waste collection events, and may dispose of used motor oil at any of the State certified used oil recycling centers throughout the City. For more information on the events and S.A.F.E. Centers, please call 1-800-98-TOXIC (Los Angeles City) or 1-888-CLEAN-LA/1-888-253-2652 (Los Angeles County).
