Special Parking Restrictions on Red Flag Days
Provider: Department of Transportation
Categories: Transportation & Parking: Parking Control and Enforcement
Description
In an effort to improve public safety, the Los Angeles Fire Department has identified key intersections, narrow roads and critical locations in the City's Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone where parked vehicles would hinder citizens from evacuating and firefighters from reaching the fire zone during a brush fire. The Department of Transportation has installed "Tow Away" parking restrictions at these locations, and Traffic Officers will be conducting special patrols of these areas to enforce the posted parking restrictions on high hazard brush days known as "Red Flag Days". Vehicles found parked in violation of the posted "Tow Away" parking restrictions on Red Flag Days will be cited and towed in an attempt to keep the roadways clear in case of an emergency.
If you have questions regarding specific areas or specific days, please feel free to stop at any fire station within the City of Los Angeles and speak with the supervisor who will be able to provide necessary information.
For information on towed vehicles, see city service: Impounded/Towed Vehicle
