The Los Angeles Police Memorial Foundation was established to provide assistance to families of police officers who were killed in the line of duty. Benefits are also provided for catastrophic circumstances, such as injuries and illness. Help is available to members of police families, retired and reservist personnel, and career civilian employees. The Foundation also provides college scholarship opportunities for children of officers killed in the line of duty and to the dependent children of department employees who have died while on active duty, and who are experiencing financial hardship. The Los Angeles Police Celebrity Golf Tournament is held annually to raise funds for the Los Angeles Police Memorial Foundation.
