Description
The Bureau of Engineering Stormwater Management Group provides information as to whether a property in the City of Los Angeles is in a flood zone and, if so, what the minimum building pad elevation should be. Engineering also reviews and signs-off on public and private construction permit applications when located in Special Flood Hazard Areas (SFHA), and determines the Base Flood Elevation (BFE) and elevation/ flood-proofing requirements. Answer to frequently asked questions regarding the City's participation in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and Community Rating System (CRS) are available by calling (213)485-4820 or sending an e-mail to: ENG.NFIP@LACITY.org.
