Approximately 1,200 special events take place within the City of Los Angeles each year. The Department of Transportation posts temporary parking restrictions at many of the events, and assigns personnel to close streets and/or direct traffic at about 600 events each year. Because of the large number of events, no comprehensive listing is currently available to the public. The Department of Transportation provides a hotline for upcoming major events, which also includes some general information.
