Description:
The
Museum of the American West, formerly the Autry Museum of Western Heritage
is where the American West comes to life. The museum is part of the Autry
National Center and offers you and your family a unique opportunity
to explore exciting and inspiring stories of the people, cultures, and
events that have shaped the legacy of this vital region. Relive the western
myths of radio, movies and television. View the west through the eyes
of Remington, Russell and other great artists. Dine at the Golden Spur
Cafe for breakfast or lunch. The West is Billy the Kid, buffalo stampedes,
snakeskin boots, cavalry charges, Colt firearms, "wanted" posters,
the Oklahoma land rush, wagon trains, "wild west shows", western
movies and more. There is something for everyone at the museum: Whether
discovering the early explorers and settlers or seeing firsthand how
different cultures lived and thrived together, the importance of family
and community--and how it relates to our lives today--is emphasized
in an atmosphere of fun and learning. |
