Animal Care Center Ribbon Cutting
Councilmember Reyes welcomes the first state-of-the-art animal shelter in Los Angeles to Council District One. In an effort to reduce the number of pets euthanized each year, Reyes supports L.A. Animal Services and their efforts to increase pet adoption.

National Night-Out on Crime March 2006
Councilmember Reyes joined the LAPD, community members, and community block clubs for the annual Adams- Normandie National Night-Out on Crime March on August 2, 2006.

Palm Tree Safety Seminar
Councilmember Reyes held a Palm Tree Safety Seminar in Elysian Park in response to several accidents and deaths that have occurred during palm tree trimmings. The July 29 seminar, the first of several in a series, included demonstrations on how to safely trim palm trees.

Mt. Washington Town Hall for Fire Days
Councilmember Reyes met with residents of Montecito Heights and Mt. Washington on July 27, 2006 to discuss fire safety, including Red Flag days

Summer Day Camp Dodger Jam
Councilmember Reyes visits children from Echo Park Rec. Center during the Summer Day Camp Dodger Jam at Elysian Park. He also joined more than 1,000 other children from throughout the City who were treated to a barbeque and entertainment just prior to going to a Dodger game on July 26, 2006.

MacArthur Park Off-site Council Meeting
Councilmember Reyes,joined by his colleagues, LAPD Chief William Bratton, and City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo, welcomed Angelenos to an off-site City Council meeting at historic MacArthur Park on July 19, 2006.

Fire Station 13 Groundbreaking
Councilmember Reyes, joined by City leaders, broke ground on Fire Station 13 on July 10, 2006 at 131206 S. Vermont Avenue.

MacArthur Park Tour
Just days after Police Chief Bratton became Los Angeles' top cop, Reyes invited him on a private tour of MacArthur Park on October 29, 2002.

Roybal Room Dedication, Bust Unveiling
Reyes, joined by dignitaries and members of the Roybal family, memorialized the late Rep. Edward Roybal, with the renaming of the City's Board of Public Works meeting room in his honor on July 5, 2006. During the ceremony, Reyes said Roybal, the first Mexican-American to serve on the Los Angeles City Council, was a civil rights icon who broke down racial barriers in local politics.
