Reyes, Children Unveil L.A. River Mural
Councilmember Reyes joined children of Aragon Elementary School in Cypress Park on January 27, 2007 to unveil "See A River," a mural created by the children assisting artists. Funded through Reyes' efforts, the mural depicts an array of wildlife that can be found in the Los Angeles River. A native of Cypress Park, Reyes remains the City Council's strongest advocate for revitalizaing the L.A. River.

The Dog Whisperer honored at City hall
Cesar "The Dog Whisperer" Millan was honored by the City Council on January 18, 2007 for his work with people and their problem pets. Millan, who stars in the hit TV show on the National Geographic Channel, also runs the popular Dog Psychology Center in South Los Angeles. Reyes joined Millan and others at a special reception hosted by Councilmember Tony Cardenas.

Reyes Opens Housing Dept. Center
Councilmember Reyes opened the Los Angeles Housing Department Regional Center to serve the housing needs of northeast L.A. residents. The nearly $500,000, 4,000- square-foot center, at 2215 N. Broadway, is staffed with about 30 housing representatives, including inspectors and code enforcement specialists.

New Red Light Camera in Lincoln Heights
Councilmember Reyes and the Los Angeles Police Department announced on Nov. 20, 2006, the activation of a red light traffic camera at the intersection of Griffin Avenue and N. Main Street.

62nd Annual Northeast LA holiday Parade
Councilmember Reyes welcomed residents to the 62nd Annual Northeast Los Angeles Holiday Parade. The "Holidays in Old L.A," parade is the second oldest in the city.

6th Annual Children's Holiday Party
Councilmember Reyes treated about 400 students to a Winter Wonderland on Dec. 4 at Grace Simons Lodge in Elysian Park. The daylong event featured sleigh rides, a magic show and a visit from Santa Claus.

Coalition for Clean Air Fashion Show
Councilmember Reyes, and other top elected officials statewide, modeled eco-friendly clothes in the Cooalition for Clean Air's 4th annual fashion show, "Clean Air. . . Always in Fashion," at the Wilshire Ebell Club on Nov. 16.

L.A. River Workshop - Atwater/Los Feliz
Councilmember Reyes gathered community input on the Los Angeles River Revitalization Master Plan at the Chevy Chase Recreation Center.

Los Angeles River Youth Conference
Councilmember Reyes launched the Youth Conference on the Los Angeles River on October 12, 2006. More than 500 high school students countywide weighed in on the City's Los Angeles River Revitalization Master Plan.

Aztec Fire Fuels Crew Honored
Councilmember Reyes honored the Aztec Fire Fuels Crew, a gang intervention program that trains men and women to begin careers as wildland firefighters. All graduating program participants have landed jobs with the U.S Forest Service
