Inner City Struggle 4th Annual Dinner
Councilmember Huizar honored Mayor Villaraigosa, Elizabeth Betita Martinez (Co-Founder of the Institute for Multiracial Justice), and Mike Garcia (President SEIU Local 1877) for their commitment to educational justice for students of Roosevelt, Franklin, Wilson and Garfield High Schools at the 4th Annual Inner City Struggle (ICS) Dinner. ICS is dedicated to providing all East Los Angeles students educational equality and equal opportunities to access higher education.

Eagle Rock Senior Action Fair
Councilmember Huizar hosted the Senior Action Fair at the Eagle Rock Recreation & Senior Center.

Feria de los Nios
Councilmember Huizar sponsored the 35th Annual Feria de los Nios at Hollenbeck Recreation Center. The Feria de los Nios promotes activities that deter children from participating in gang-related activities, thus lowering crime. Children ages 5-14 competed in several events the entire weekend that included an Art Competition, Tortilla-Making/Decorating Competition, Art and Poetry Competition. Over five hundred children and families attended the event.

TERA State of the Town Address
Councilmember Huizar provides the Annual State of the Town Address to Eagle Rock Residents. The Eagle Rock Association (TERA) hosts the annual town hall meeting. This year Councilman Huizar addressed over two hundred residents and spoke about issues of law enforcement, economic development, historic preservation, and the Colorado Specific Plan.

KOREH L.A. Event
Councilmember Huizar welcomes the KOREH L.A. program to district 14th.

CASA 0101 Fundraising Gala
Councilmember Huizar joins the CASA 0101 Fundraising Gala night and help raise money to support theatrical arts program in Boyle Heights.

Hermandad Mexicana Nacional
Councilmember Huizar joins Hermandad Mexicana Nacional for the Recognizing New Citizens/Immigration Workshop.

Reception for Father Chavez
Councilmember Huizar welcomes Rector Major Fr. Pascual Chavez at his alma mater, Salesian High School, on the fathers nationwide tour of Salesian schools, parishes, and works of ministry.

Northeast Planning Forum Series
Councilmember Huizar hosts a forum in Northeast Los Angeles to discuss local historic preservation and revitalization. The forum was attended by over sixty residents and held at the Eagle Rock Center for the Arts.Panelist in the forum included Linda Dishman, Los Angeles Conservancy; Ken Bernstein, Office of Historic Resources, City of Los Angeles; Payton Hall, Historic Resources Group; Richard Baron, Cultural Heritage Commission; and Michael Olecki, South Carthay Historic Preservation Overlay Zone.
