	Cuts to Children's Aid
	City Councilmember Jose Huizar, along with state and local elected officials, parents and community groups held a press conference to voice opposition to the Governor's proposed cuts to welfare benefits. The cuts would eliminate a critical safety net for tens of thousands of children whose parents are immigrants or do not meet federal work requirements.

	District 14 served as the backdrop for the launch of the Boyle Heights Music and Arts Program During a Star Studded Event.

	Highland Park Mural
	City Councilmember José Huizar has committed to work with representatives from AT& T, Highland Park Heritage Trust, Yorkdale Neighborhood Leadership Group, and Garvanza Improvement Association to save the oldest remaining mural in Highland Park.

	Mt. Washington Assoc. Food Drive
	Councilmember Huizar participated in this year's annual Mount Washington Association Food Drive (12.02.06). The food collected benefited the Northeast Mental Health Center and local families in need. The Northeast Mental Health Center provides outpatient treatment, crisis intervention, life support and care coordination to residents throughout the Northeast Los Angeles area.
