L.A river clean-up in Elysian Valley
Councilmembers Eric Garcetti and Ed Reyes joins the residents in Elysian Valley on Saturday, May 1st to clean up the L.A river. The L.A river runs parallel to the nieghborbood of Elysian Valley and remains as one of the last natural river segments in all of the L.A river!

Thai New Year's Festival (Songkran)
Thai Town hosts their annual Songkran celebration on April 4th, 2004 to celebrate Thai New Year! The celebrations on Songkran Day in the Northern part of Thailand are separated into 3 days. The first day is on the 13th of April, called "Sang Karn Long Day" which means the passing day of the old year. On this day people will clean their home, their bodies and dress in new suits. The next day is on the 14th of April, called "Nao Day" or "Da Day" which means the preparation of various auspicious ceremonies. Food and basic necessities will be provided on this day to give to monks and relatives. The third day is on the 15th of April, called "Phrya Wan Day" which means the great important day of New Year. On this day people will liberate birds and fish, bath Buddha image and monks as well as respectful senior family members.

Garcetti-Greuel Tax Plan
On April 13th, 2004 Councilmembers Eric Garcetti and Wendy Greuel introduced to council a motion to lower and simplify business tax. This business tax reform package takes an innovative approach to reform the business tax system into a more fair and strategic system. The pictures in this gallery presents a potential future in which businesses in Los Angeles will save at least $90 million with the changes to the business tax infrastructure as propose by the Garcetti-Greuel Tax Plan, thereby "creating jobs with fair rates and simplified rules!"
