How the process works || How to appeal a decision


You may file a complaint against a Department employee by, any of the following:

1. You may contact the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) at (213) 202-5866 or writing to: OIG, 201 N. Figueroa St., Los Angeles, CA 90012,
    (for more details, see Contact The Inspector General).

2. You may contact a Department supervisor at any Los Angeles Police Department Community Police Station, regardless of where in the city the     incident occurred. At the stations, this supervisor will usually be the "watch commander;" however, it may be a sworn or civilian employee of equal     or higher rank.

3. You may also call or write directly to any Community Police Station. Telephone numbers and addresses are available in your local telephone     directory.

4. Another option available to you is to contact Internal Affairs Group "Duty Room" at telephone number 1-800-339-6868 or by completing a "Complaint    of Employee Misconduct" form and mailing it to Internal Affairs Group. This form and preprinted envelopes may be obtained at the Office of the    Board of Police Commissioners, the Office of the Inspector General, and any Community Police Station.
