Commissioner Kafi D. Blumenfield
is a resident of San Fernando Valley. She has worked on a variety
of issues in her career such as voter education, environmental
justice, and fair housing. Ms. Blumenfield currently directs Liberty
Hill Foundation’s LibertyVote!, a
voter engagement grants and training program for Los Angeles community
organizations. She has also worked with the Fair Housing Council
of San Gabriel Valley (now called the Housing Rights Center),
Neighbor to Neighbor, and the Natural Resources Defense Council.
While at the Fair Housing Council, Ms. Blumenfield served as the
Director of Programs leading its housing rights advocacy and education
activities. Her board memberships include the Los Angeles League
of Conservation Voters where she served for four years and Liberty
Hill’s Environmental Justice Funding Board, which she served
on for three years. Her studies included internships at the Legal
Resources Center in Cape Town, South Africa, where she conducted
legal research in preparation for the Truth and Reconciliation
Commission and the White House where she conducted policy research.
Ms. Blumenfield is a graduate of Pomona College in Claremont,
California and UCLA School of Law.
