Getting the Facts
How can I find out what type of housing my neighborhood needs?

Consider the need. Although every neighborhood is unique, the housing crisis reaches across the city, the region and the state. Every neighborhood needs to be part of the solution. Low-income people live or work in every neighborhood in the city. If you haven't looked for a place to live in a few years, it may not be obvious to you how desperate the housing situation has become for many people.

Consider the opportunities. Many people consider Los Angeles to be "built out" because there are few large vacant tracts of land that are suitable for building. However, most neighborhoods have some stretches of sagging commercial strips or other low density areas in need of revitalization.
