Heather Marie Repenning
District Director of Community Development

Heather Repenning oversees community development initiatives throughout CD13, working with field deputies and community leaders to help advance projects that make neighborhoods healthier, safer, and more livable. She also advises Council President Garcetti on issues related to parks and neighborhood councils.

Heather first joined the CD13 team starting in 2001 after working on Council President Garcetti's first campaign for public office. She served as the field deputy for Echo Park and Elysian Valley for two heady years before heading to the Los Angeles Unified School District in 2003 to help create neighborhood schools. Heather came back in November of 2006 after managing the electoral campaign for Los Angeles' affordable housing ballot measure.

Heather's roots are in the bluegrass soil of Kentucky, but after graduating Phi Beta Kappa from Swarthmore College, she lived as a teacher in Paris, France and then in Tela, Honduras, finally landing in Southern California to earn a Master's Degree in Comparative Literature from the University of California, Irvine. She currently resides in Silver Lake and spends her free time reading noir fiction.
