Marcel Porras Legislative Deputy
Marcel Porras works on transportation-related policy and initiatives for Council President Garcetti, and primarily takes public transit, bikes or walks to get to where he needs to go.
Born and raised in Southern California, Marcel worked on transportation policy at the Center of Sustainable Transportation in Mexico City and as a transportation planner with Transconsult before turning his attention to reducing traffic congestion in Los Angeles’s 13th Council District.
Marcel completed a double major in History and Latin American Studies at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). As part of his undergraduate studies, he spent a semester in Rio de Janeiro and had an internship at the Department of Housing and Urban Development. He also earned a Masters in Urban Planning at UCLA.
Marcel is looking forward to the implementation of the city’s new “sharrows,” which will help make Los Angeles streets safer for bicyclists. He also likes eating at taco trucks.
