Kelli Bernard
Director of Planning and Economic Development
Kelli Bernard serves Council President Garcetti as Director of Planning and Economic Development. She manages the development and implementation of President Garcettis economic development initiatives and oversees major development projects in the 13th Council District.
Kelli has more than fifteen years of experience in the areas of economic development, planning, land use, housing, redevelopment and public affairs. She has counseled numerous private sector companies and non-profit organizations on development issues. She worked to stimulate job growth and economic development in Los Angeless low-income communities as Genesis LA Economic Growth Corporations Vice President of Real Estate. She was also an economic and real estate development consultant for the Lee Andrews Group.
A City Hall veteran, Kelli served as a Senior Business Development Representative for Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan. In addition, she was a Planning and Economic Development Deputy for Los Angeles City Councilmember Rudy Svorinich.
Kelli is involved in a number of volunteer organizations, including The Urban Land Institute where she serves as a National Inner City Advisor, and The Los Angeles Neighborhood Land Trust. She holds a Master in Urban Planning from the University of California at Los Angeles and a B.A. in Sociology from the University of California at Berkeley.
