Meet Our Staff

Julie Wong
Senior Advisor and Communications Director

Julie helps Council President Garcetti communicate with his constituents. She serves as the office's chief liaison to media who report on citywide and neighborhood issues. She also helps produce materials that directly reach Angelenos to help them better understand challenges facing our community and let them know about opportunities to get involved with improving our city.

Julie served as Deputy Mayor for Communications for Mayor Jim Hahn and helped craft communications strategies at critical junctures in the city, including the terrorist attacks of September 11. She has also developed and implemented communications plans as the press secretary for other elected officials and candidates, including U.S. Senators Barbara Boxer and Bill Bradley, and Congresswoman Jane Harman.

Julie is a graduate of Claremont McKenna College and received a Master of Public Policy from Harvard University.

A resident of Highland Park, Julie regularly traverses the 13th Council District to use its libraries, swimming pools, and parks.
