Josh Kamensky
Director of Communications

Josh Kamensky oversees media and constituent communications for Councilmember Garcetti. He also covers specialized economic development issues relating to worker rights and accountable development, and he is the Councilmember's liaison to the Los Angeles labor movement. He has also worked on Hollywood-area economic development, interacting with the entertainment industry, small business, Business Improvement Districts, and new development.

A graduate of Yale University and Deep Springs College, Josh came to Los Angeles in 1997 to organize immigrant workers with Local 11 of the Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees Union. He has worked for Coalition L.A., Santa Monicans Allied for Responsible Tourism (a division of LAANE), and the Progressive Los Angeles Network. Before joining Councilmember Garcetti's staff, he was the Los Angeles-based corporate researcher for the International Longshore and Warehouse Union. He has played the accordion in front of people, injuring few.
