Nicole Velásquez
is Councilmember Rosendahl’s Del Rey Field Deputy.
She handles community concerns and is actively involved
in numerous projects like Mar Vista Gardens and Slauson
Avenue. She also regularly meets with groups like the
Culver Slauson Park Advisory Board, the Del Rey Homeowners
and Neighbors Association, and the Mar Vista Family
Center Parents Association. She is the Councilmember’s
liaison to the Del Rey Neighborhood Council, working
closely with the council to identify community priorities.
Before joining Team Rosendahl, Nicole worked at the
Center for Community Change in Washington, D.C. She
participated in the AFL-CIO Union Summer program as
an intern with UNITE HERE Local 11. Most recently she
worked at New Economics for Women, a prominent affordable
housing developer as the Executive Assistant to the
organization’s CEO and Executive Director.
Nicole’s family settled in the Del Rey area
over 50 years ago, and she and most of her relatives
still live in the area. She graduated from UC-Berkeley
with a double major in Political Science and Ethnic
Studies. She has lived and studied in Mexico and Cuba.
She is an animal-lover and has rescued 2 dogs from
Southern California shelters. In addition to serving
Council District 11, Nicole is currently pursuing a
Masters degree in Urban Planning at UCLA, and she is
a passionate champion for environmental justice.
