Laura is responsible for
advising the Councilmember on all matters in City Hall. This
encompasses issues pending before the City Council,
its 15 standing committees and 8 ad hoc committees. Additionally,
she assists in the overall daily operations of the
Council District Eleven offices and staff. Her
specific Council committee assignments include: Public
Works, Transportation, Intergovernmental Relations,
and Rules & Elections.
A City Hall veteran, Laura worked for over 7 years
with former Council President Alex Padilla, where she
served as his Legislative Director for the 7th Council
District, in the San Fernando Valley.
Prior to working in City Hall, Laura interned in U.S.
Senator Dianne Feinstein’s San Diego district
office. When a paid position became available
in the Senator’s West Los Angeles, Laura jumped
at it, and she served the Senator as a Field Representative
for nearly 3 years.
Laura is a member of the Los Angeles Leadership Council
of the American Diabetes Association (ADA). The
Leadership Council is the formal volunteer board that
provides leadership to achieve the goals that support
the mission of the ADA. The Council recruits
and cultivates individuals to become ADA volunteer
leaders and advance ADA’s mission in a community.
Laura graduated with a B.A. in international relations
from the University of San Diego with a degree in International
Relations. She makes her home in South Pasadena
with her husband Tom Rogers. In her free time,
Laura is an avid runner, belongs to a book club and
she enjoys cooking and spending time with her new nephew,
Bradley.
