Grieg Asher, Planning Deputy

Grieg serves as the chief planner for the district with oversight of all major planning and land use matters.

Grieg is a veteran land use and transportation planner. Prior to joining the District 11 team, Grieg was the planning and transportation deputy for Councilwoman Janice Hahn (CD-15). A long time San Pedro resident, Grieg is actively involved in many local organizations including the Central San Pedro Neighborhood Council, the Port Community Advisory Committee and the Los Angeles Maritime Museum Foundation. Grieg has been a community activist for 30 years, working on historic preservation, environmental and development issues.

Born and raised in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Grieg graduated from Denver University with a degree in Economics and Political Science. Before moving to Los Angeles in 1985, Grieg worked as an aide to Congresswoman Pat Schroeder, Senator Gary Hart and Senator Edward Kennedy. In 1991, Grieg earned a Master’s degree in Public Administration at Cal State - Long Beach.
