Traffic & Driver Safety Program

Traffic safety education classes provided by community organizations teach state and local laws affecting the safety of vehicle drivers and passengers, and pedestrians and bicyclists. Participants learn the importance of observing traffic laws, safety tips for bicycle and pedestrian safety, and the proper installation and use of certain equipment to increase child safety. Those who successfully complete a workshop may qualify to receive a free child safety seat and/or safety gear (helmet, knee pads).

Driver safety workshops targeting teens and young adults (15 - 24) encourage responsible behavior behind the wheel by informing them of the dangers of driving at excessive speeds, driving under the influence or riding with someone who does these things. Program also provides limited opportunities for participants to receive certified driver's training free of charge, including behind the wheel practice.
