If your request for a modification of Building Ordinances has been denied by Department staff, supervisor, and managers, the next step in the appeal process is the Board of Building and Safety Commissioners. Appeals are not submitted directly to the Board. Appeals to the Board of Building and Safety Commissioners are processed through the district offices of the Department, and must be reviewed by the Plan Check supervisor or Senior Inspector personnel. They can assist you in completing the required form and properly word your request. Forms (Request for Modification of Building Ordinances, LADBS COM 31) are available at any Building and Safety district office.
