The Labor Compliance Section of the Office of Contract Compliance is responsible for monitoring and assuring that Public Works contractors are in compliance with labor and prevailing wage laws and regulations of the City, State, and Federal governments. "Prevailing wage" is defined as the basic wage rate being paid to a majority of workers engaged in a particular type of work within the locality and in the nearest labor market area. This section also disseminates information on labor and prevailing wage requirements, audits payroll records, and conducts on-sit employee interviews.
