Certification of Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE)

Provider: PW/Bureau of Contract Administration

Categories: Business Opportunities with the City

Description
The Bureau of Contract Administration evaluates and certifies businesses as Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE) for all City personal services and public works construction contracts. A DBE is defined as a small business that is at least 51% owned by one or more socially and economically disadvantaged individuals and whose management and daily business operations are controlled by one or more of these owners. Firms certified as DBE enjoy certain advantages in landing contracts for federally-funded projects. The Centralized Certification Section receives applications and supporting documentation, reviews information therein, verifies references, and performs a financial review to ascertain eligibility of applicant. It also disseminates information on the City's DBE program.
