The Bureau of Contract Administration evaluates and certifies businesses as Women Business Enterprises (WBE) for all City personal services and public works construction contracts. A WBE is defined as a business that is at least 51% owned by one or more women and whose management and daily business operations are controlled by one or more of these owners. Firms certified as WBE enjoy certain advantages in landing contracts with the City. The Centralized Certification Section receives applications and supporting documentation, reviews information therein, verifies references, and performs a financial review to ascertain eligibility of applicant. It also disseminates information on the City's WBE program.
