| In addition to prosecuting criminals,
crime prevention remains a #1 priority for the Office of the
City Attorney. Neighborhood Prosecutors work closely with
community organizations, Neighborhood Watch groups, and Neighborhood
Councils to provide crime awareness and prevention information
throughout Los Angeles.
Prosecutors are available to assist you in preventing crime
in your neighborhood.
- To contact your neighborhood prosecutor and learn about
crime prevention in your neighborhood call the Neighborhood
Prosecutor Program Hotline at 1-877-LA CARES or e-mail neighborhood@atty.lacity.org
Successfully combating child abuse and neglect requires a
dedicated partnership among the numerous agencies with responsibility
for protecting children, including: school districts, child
welfare agencies, law enforcement, and prosecutorial agencies.
The Task Force
Recommendations for Investigating Child Abuse Reported
by Schools outlines best practices for stakeholders in effectively
preventing and addressing child abuse situations.
Crime reports or other violations of law or court orders must
be made to a law enforcement/ investigatory agency. To report
a non-emergency crime in the City of Los Angeles contact the
Los Angeles Police Department, or the agency with jurisdiction
over the violation. Non-emergency crimes include crimes in
progress or other situations that require police response,
but that are non-life threatening, such as loud parties, a
group of juveniles loitering in front of your home, neighbor
disputes, etc.
