The vets tell me I have the sweetest temperament. I should do well with a simple surgery to correct the problem or eye medication. Samson (A1018147)

I’m a sweet, gentle, 3-year old, male, Miniature pinscher who is blind due to an eye condition that may be the result of an immune mediated disease. So far I am doing well on medication, but I will need further workup and a consult with a veterinary ophthalmologist/internist. Of course that treatment is outside the scope of everyday shelter medicine, so I am relying on donations to the STAR Program to help me get the treatment that I need. Your donations make a BIG difference! If you are interested in bringing a very special boy into your life, look no further – I am waiting for you at NC!

Scooby (A1015229)

I am a 4-year old, neutered Pit bull mix who was the victim of a horrible dog attack. My owner didn't take me to the vet for several days and my wounds became badly infected. I am doing great now thanks to the STAR Program and my wounds have all healed! I just need a loving home. I am extremely sweet but shy, and need a lot of TLC. Please continue to donate to the STAR Program to help injured pups like me get a second chance to find a loving family!

Tatu (A1017323)

I am a very cute 2-year old Chihuahua who was brought as a stray to the North Central Animal Care Center with lameness in my left front leg. X-rays were taken and revealed no obvious fractures or lesions, so the docs think I might have radial nerve damage of that leg. Other than not using the leg, I am doing great, but I will need a follow-up orthopedic evaluation. Please donate to the STAR Program so that more little dogs like me can receive the special orthopedic treatment we need to help us run again! If you are ready to adopt a new friend, I am waiting for you!

Lolita (A1015806)

I am an adorable 2-year old, female, Chihuahua that was abandoned by her owner at the North Central Animal Care Center because I had a seizure. I have been at the shelter for several weeks under close observation, but the medical team here has not seen another seizure and my blood work is normal. I do walk in circles (maybe I am practicing for Dancing with the Stars?), so I will need a follow-up neurologic evaluation. I am super sweet and looking for a loving and compassionate new family. Thanks to the donations to the STAR Program, I have received weeks of special treatment. Please continue to donate to help more special girls like me!

Sam (A1012757)

I am just the CUTEST 3-month old, female, Akita-mix puppy who was found by a park ranger in the vicinity of a coyote. I am currently under rabies observation for a possible wild animal bite and will unfortunately need to be under quarantine for 6 months. This means I will be forced to spend all my puppyhood in the shelter unless I am adopted. I am not only beautiful and sweet, but overall very healthy! I just need a family that is willing to adopt me and agree to the County’s home quarantine protocol. If you are looking for your first family pet, I’m your girl!

Bibi (A1010579)

I am a beautiful, spayed Doberman Pinscher mix who was hit by a car and abandoned by my new owner of only a couple weeks at the North Central Animal Care Center. I fractured my right front and hind legs, but I am doing great on medication. My front leg is in a splint and now I can around very well. The doctors tell me that I will most likely need orthopedic surgery for my fractures, but I should recover well. I love all people and animals and just need another chance to find a forever home. Please continue to donate to the STAR Program to help pups like me get a second (or third!) chance they need to find a loving home!

Joker (A1008742)

I am a very handsome, 8-month old, male, neutered, white American Staffordshire pup who has demodetic mange, a very treatable and non-contagious skin disease. I have already shown great improvement on medications since I have been here at the shelter and will make a full recovery as long as I continue to receive my medication. Your donations to the STAR Program make it possible for pup like me to get the treatment for mange that we need. Please donate today!

Daisy (A1009021)

I am a one year old gray, black, and white female wire Terrier, Chihuahua mix. I was brought to a LA Animal Services Care Center as an injured intact female stray. I could not walk on my right hind leg. The doctor at the West Valley Animal Care Center examined and gave me antibiotics and pain medication and gave supportive care. After I had my right leg x-rayed at one of the Animal Care Centers, the doctor could see the radiograph that showed two bones of my right hind leg were severely broken. I had a completely separated fracture of my femur with a piece of my bone broken off. My right tibia had a complete transverse fracture. The doctor stabilized my broken leg with a bandaged splint. I was in desperate need of surgery, since my fractures were so severe. The shelter could not provide the specialized orthopedic surgery and a referral could not be afforded by the Department’s budget.

LA Animal Services used the STAR Program fund to send me to a board certified veterinary surgeon to repair the broken bones of my right hind leg. My femur had both a bone pin and a bone plate placed and the missing bone fragment was reattached to the femur. My tibia bone had a medullary bone pin placed to allow the fracture to heal. I am so lucky. Not only did LA Animal Services save my life, they saved my leg. Now I am spayed and recovering with the caring doctor and staff at the Animal Care Center, where I am receiving the love, supportive care, antibiotics, pain medications, and physical therapy that I need to recover. The STAR Program still needs your donations! Please donate today to help more dogs like me.

Phelps (A1006230)

I am the cutest little 4-month old, female, Pit bull who was born with a congenital deformity of both front legs. I was abandoned in front of the North Central Animal Care Center. I am sweet as a button and otherwise very healthy. I am not sure if I will need medical intervention for my legs in the future, but right now I can run and get around just fine and my funny front legs just give me more character. If you are someone who is drawn to a girl with personality, then look no further! Please make a donation to the STAR Program and help pups like me find the loving homes they need!

Hellan (A1003336)

I am a 10-year old, spayed Australian Cattle dog/Shepherd mix that was brought to the North Central Animal Care Center. I am very sweet and just suffering the ailments of old age. I have severe dental disease and tartar and will need to have my teeth cleaned and possibly pulled. I also have arthritis in my hips and would benefit from acupuncture and glucosamine tablets. Please help me find a home and give me a chance! I also would appreciate your continued support of the STAR Program which allows the City vets to provide special treatment for older dogs like me.

Marlo (A0998859)

I am a young, sweet, male, Pit bull who came to the North Central Animal Care Center after I was hit by a car. I suffered a broken leg, which the great docs at North Central splinted and placed on treatment. I have done great! My leg has completely healed and I am walking, running and jumping on it as if it was never broken. Thanks to the STAR Program, I was able to get the treatment I needed. Please make a donation to help more dogs with fractures like me! I also would LOVE to find a great home soon and promise to make a wonderful pet!
