Special Materials: Hazardous Waste
The following California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB) certified locations will accept your used motor oil. However, the used motor oil cannot be contaminated -- mixed with other solvents or liquids. Note, a slight amount of water in the oil is not considered contamination. The centers will accept up to 20 gallons per visit. A rebate of 4 cents per quart (16 cents per gallon) is given to the participating residents bringing their oil to certified centers. Please note, some locations that accept oil, but are not certified by the state may not offer the 4 cent rebate. These businesses have agreed to accept (free of charge) used motor oil from the public. Please call ahead to confirm.
