National Environmental Achievement Award, 2002, Association of Metropolitan Sewer Agencies (AMSA), in the Research and Technology category for the "Assessment of Aeration Basins in Activated Sludge Plants" project. California Water Environment Association Award, 1995, for Hyperion Treatment Plant's video production, "Biosolids -- A Valuable Resource". Productivity Improvement Awards, 1990 through 1995, City of Los Angeles Productivity Commission, to Hyperion for projects or programs which resulted in a cumulative $120 million in savings and one-third overall budget reductions since 1989. Gold Awards, 1994, Association of Metropolitan Sewer Agencies, for no NPDES permit violations to the Terminal Island Treatment Plant and the Los Angeles - Glendale Water Reclamation Plant. Silver Award, 1994, Association of Metropolitan Sewer Agencies, to the Hyperion Treatment Plant for one NPDES violation. Plant of the Year, 1994, California Water Environment Association Los Angeles Basin Section, for outstanding treatment plant performance (no NPDES violations), for innovative problem solving and overall improvements to the Terminal Island Treatment Plant. Grand Prize for Operations/Management, 1993, (American Academy of Environmental Engineers) - for Hyperion Plant Maintenance Management Program. Gold Awards, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992 and 1993, Association of Metropolitan Sewer Agencies, for performance excellence and no NPDES permit violations in 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992 and 1993 at the Hyperion Treatment Plant. Plant of the Year, 1992, Los Angeles Basin Section of the Water Environment Federation, to Hyperion Treatment Plant. Safety Award, 1992, Los Angeles Basin Section of the Water Environment Federation, to Hyperion Treatment Plant. Engineering Achievement, 1992, Los Angeles Basin Section of the Water Environment Federation, joint award to DMJM, Black & Veatch and Hyperion Treatment Plant for Design of Digesters Expansion. Best Maintenance Organization Award, 1992, (Maintenance Technology Magazine) - for the quality of Hyperion's maintenance program. Outstanding Achievement in Water Pollution Control Award, 1990, (Water Environment Federation/WPCF) - for Hyperion Plant Improvements and their positive impacts on Santa Monica Bay. 100% Beneficial Reuse of Sludge Award, 1989, U. S. Environmental Protection Agency. For program which moved from ocean discharge to full beneficial reuse in two years.

Heinz National Recycling Award, 1991, (US Conference of Mayors) - for the entire recycling effort (curbside and industrial, commercial programs).
