NATIONAL BLACK LATINO SUMMIT

On Monday, October 6, Mayor Villaraigosa gave opening remarks during the first National Black Latino Summit in downtown Los Angeles.

Led by PolicyLink and the William C. Velasquez Institute, the National Black Latino Summit strives to catalyze and deepen alliance building between African American and Latino communities.

The summit provides a venue for Latino and African American leadership including community leaders, youth, elected officials, academics, business leaders, and philanthropists to develop a coordinated policy and advocacy platform to advance the health and well-being of diverse communities across America.

Beginning with the critically needed dialogue regarding African Americans and Latinos, the National Black Latino Summit is envisioned as part of a larger process of alliance building for action, sustainability and accountability for all ethnic and racial groups.
