Safe, Regional and Modern Airports
Safe, Regional and Modern Airports
Maintain the Long-Term Competitiveness of LA’s Airports
Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) serves as a major international gateway and economic engine for the region. As air travel to and from Southern California increases, the overall capacity and efficiency of our airport network must increase, but all of the growth cannot happen at LAX. Our plan focuses on:
- Improving airfield, terminal, and other security at Los Angeles’ airports
- Regionalizing aviation travel and cargo through joint planning, marketing, and cooperation with other airports, including expansion of city-owned LA/Ontario International Airport and LA/Palmdale Regional Airport
- Reducing traffic congestion near airports and improving air quality by expanding FlyAway service and remote baggage check-in, improving transit connections, and other traffic mitigations
- Modernizing LAX to create a better customer experience, improve operational efficiency, and accommodate new super jumbo jets
