MARSHA
L. BROWN, M.A., PRESIDENT - President Brown has
been a member of the Board of Building and Safety Commissioners
since September 2004. She is the president and founder
of a nationally recognized research and investigation
corporation that specializes in workers' compensation,
workplace fraud, and surveillance investigations, as
well as vehicle collision investigations including automobile,
bus and rail accidents. Vice President Brown has over
twenty years of investigative experience. She is recognized
as an expert in Human Resource and workplace investigative
issues.
President Brown graduated with a Bachelor of Science
degree from Loyola Marymount University with a dual
concentration. She received her Master of Arts degree
in Marriage, Family and Child Counseling from Phillips
Graduate Institute. She currently serves on the City
of Los Angeles Workplace investment Board, and its Youth
Council. She is the Chair of the County of Los Angeles
Metropolitan Transportation Authority's Transportation
Business Advisory Council (TBAC), as well as a Board
member of Women's Transportation Coalition and Phillips
Graduate Institute. She was an elected delegate from
Southern California to the White House Conference on
Small Business. She serves on the Board of the Los Angeles
African American Women's Political Action Committee
and the Los Angeles African American Women's Public
Policy Institute. She was a Commissioner on the City's
of Los Angeles' Redistricting Commission.
President Brown has received numerous awards for her
many years of outstanding service to the community as
a business leader as well as an activist on behalf of
foster children.

EVANGELOS
P. AMBATIELOS, VICE PRESIDENT - Vice President Ambatielos
was confirmed as a member of the Board of Building and
Safety Commissioners in May 2006. He is a native of Southern
California where he attended public school in Manhattan
Beach and received his undergraduate and graduate degrees
from the University of Southern California. A 25 year
resident of Los Angeles, Vice President Ambatielos is
a businessman and former public school educator. He taught
Spanish for 15 years at Palos Verdes High School and served
as Chairman for the Department of Foreign Language. Vice
President Ambatielos is presently co-owner of two Los
Angeles based businesses where he is actively involved
in the management of both companies. |

VICTOR
HUGO CUEVAS, COMMISSIONER - Commissioner Cuevas
is a lifelong resident of the City of Los Angeles and
the Northeast San Fernando Valley. Born to an immigrant
family, he attended public schools and graduated from
the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) with
a degree in Political Science. He worked immediately
thereafter with UCLA's Office of Community Based Learning
(CBL) providing workforce development services to low-income
youth in the communities of Boyle Heights and the East
San Fernando Valley. In Pacoima, he oversaw and directed
CBL's Workforce Investment Act services to a consortium
of youth at Pacoima Skills Center and the environmental
justice organization Pacoima Beautiful.
In
2004, Commissioner Cuevas joined the District legislative
team of former Assemblymember Cindy Montañez
(AD-39) to work in the areas of brownfield mitigation,
the greening of blighted areas, and multimedia communications.
For several years he was the liaison to the neighborhoods
of North Hills and Lake View Terrace where he planned
numerous community events and strengthened constituent
ties to the state legislative process.
The
experience in public policy-making propelled Commissioner
Cuevas to enter the graduate program at California Polytechnic
University, Pomona in Urban and Regional Planning to
further prepare himself for the advocacy of healthy
and vibrant communities. He has conducted locally based
research studies in the areas of green building, the
creation of urban multi-use trails, and congestion mitigation.
He has completed all required coursework and is looking
towards defending his research thesis in the Fall of
2008.
Most
recently, Commissioner Cuevas has collaborated in the
area of construction/project management, and currently
serves as a multimedia, land-use, and planning consultant
to a design-build firm in the San Fernando Valley. He
is a member of the American Planning Association, the
Latino Urban Forum, and was confirmed to the Board of
Building and Safety Commissioners in July of 2008.

HELENA
JUBANY, COMMISSIONER - Commissioner Jubany is a
licensed architect both in the State of California and
Brazil. In 1989, she founded her own office, Jubany
Architecture, in downtown Los Angeles. She is currently
the managing principal of Jubany-NAC|architecture in
Los Angeles. She is very active in the community and
has been a strong advocate of the urban revitalization
of downtown Los Angeles.
Commissioner
Jubany served as President of the Asian American Architects/Engineers
Association for two years and is a current Board Member
for the American Institute of Architects for the Los
Angeles Chapter. Commissioner Jubany is also a Board
Member of A Community of Friends (ACOF), and the Ace
Mentor Program, all of which are non-profit organizations
focused on housing the mentally ill homeless and the
needs and mentorship of inner-city youth.
Though
a native to Taiwan, Commissioner Jubany was raised in
Brazil. There she earned a Bachelor of Architecture
degree from the University of Sao Paulo. Her Master
of Architecture degree is from California Polytechnic
University, Pomona. Commissioner Jubany worked for the
City of Sao Paulo Planning Department and was involved
in several urban density projects. Her commitment to
and expertise in public education has resulted in several
invitations by the Brazilian Ministry of Education to
speak at a series of international architectural conferences.
Commissioner Jubany's work in education led to her appointment
at Woodbury University, Department of Architecture Consultancy
Board in 1996. She teaches the 5th year Professional
Practice course and various design studios.

ELENORE
A. WILLIAMS, COMMISSIONER - Commissioner Williams
has been a member of the Board of Building and Safety
Commissioners since July 2006. She is President &
CEO of Emerald Legacy, Inc., which provides consultation
services and assistance with community relations, planning,
and real estate redevelopment in inner-city communities.
Commissioner Williams was Chairperson of the Housing
Authority Board of Commissioners for the City from January
2004 until June 2006 and served as President and Chief
Executive Officer for Habitat for Humanity Los Angeles,
from 2002 until 2004. Commissioner Williams was the
Senior Public Affairs Specialist for State Farm Insurance
where she worked closely with non-profit organizations
to promote safe and strong neighborhoods in the City.
As
a Board Member for Inner City Film Makers and an Advisory
Board Member for the Tavis Smiley Foundation, she has
helped to build strategic linkages between local youth,
business and philanthropic communities.
Commissioner
Williams currently serves as President of The New Leaders
(TNL), an African-American Professional Leadership Organization
and Vice-Chair of the African-American Advisory Board
of the American Red Cross. She is the recipient of the
2002 Los Angeles Urban League "Community Responsibility
Award". Commissioner Williams holds a Bachelor
of Arts Degree from the California State University,
Long Beach.

Members
of the Board of Building and Safety Commissioners are appointed
by the Mayor of the City of Los Angeles and confirmed by the
Los Angeles City Council pursuant to the Charter of the City
of Los Angeles. Each Commissioner is appointed for a term
of five years, and all volunteer their time to preside at
weekly Board of Building and Safety Commission meetings.
The
Board of Building and Safety Commissioners convenes its meetings
on Tuesday at 201 North Figueroa Street, Room 900, Los Angeles.
