Elevator Permits

The following information has been summarized from the Los Angeles Municipal Code to make it easier to understand the intent of the code.

An elevator permit is required to construct, install, repair, alter, remove, reconstruct, relocate any elevator, lift, dumbwaiter, escalator or any elevator-related equipment and devices.

A separate elevator permit is required for any elevator related work performed. Furthermore, all elevator related-work shall be done by a State of California licensed contractor who is licensed to perform the work described herein. In addition, all work shall be performed by a " Los Angeles licensed journeymen elevator mechanic".
