Free 2011 LA Kids Winter Basketball Camp
The 2011 LA Kids Free Winter Basketball Camp is for boys and girls ages 7 - 15. This is an excellent opportunity for boys and girls to learn the fundamentals of basketball, make new friends and have lots of fun while on Winter break. Everyone will receive quality instruction, a jersey and lunch. Campers will also be eligible to win prizes. The camps will be held Tuesday - Friday, from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm, at Van Ness Recreation Center (December 20 - 23) and Sylmar Recreation Centers (January 3 - 6. 2012), during LAUSD winter break. Each of the host sites will be allotted 50 spaces. Transportation will be provided to the host sites from participating centers. Department of Cultural Affairs Music LA Program
Music LA is a music education program that coordinates resources to provide quality music instruction for young people throughout the City of Los Angeles, and a groundbreaking partnership between local government, music providers, and parents. Music LA gives children and teens a summer full of music training in a challenging and creative environment where learning, focus, and discipline are cultivated. Music LA provides professional music education programming in areas of the City where few or no music education programs exist. Music LA creates points of access between young people, creative communities, and local government to support musicians and arts organizations as music education providers.

Dept. of Recreation and Parks' Pre-School Age License Child Care Centers
The Department's Licensed Child Care program operates 2 State-licensed child care facilities which provide full day care for pre-school children 2.5 to entry into kindergarten. Jim Gilliam Child Care Center has funding provided by California Department of Education for income eligible families. Ralph M. Parsons Pre-school offers the Los Angeles Universal Preschool Program for children that have turned four years of age on or before December 2.
