Guide to Understanding CEQA in the City of LA

Home

The City of Los Angeles’ EAD has developed the “Guide to Understanding CEQA in the City of Los Angeles.” This booklet answers many questions that are asked about the city’s environmental review process under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).

Focusing on each of eleven City departments, the guide covers several useful areas of information, such as: CEQA processing fees and time, key private projects subject to CEQA, contact phone numbers, typical public noticing, and a narrative description of the department’s procedures and responsibilities. There is also a clear explanation of the development process and its relationship to CEQA.

For additional information about the EAD, the guide, or to request hard copies free of charge, please call (213) 978-0888 or (800) 439-4666 (within Los Angeles City limits).
