Description
Both the State Cal Grant and Federal Pell Grant are entitlement programs available to all eligible students. They offer free money for college that does not need to be repaid. Some of the basic eligibility requirements include having a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA), graduating from high school, demonstrating financial need according to the government's formula, and meeting certain family income and asset ceilings.
Over the past ten years, L.A. Cash for College:
Served more than 162,000 local students and their families by expanding college access awareness and the availability of financial aid resources
Helped more than 37,000 families complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid [FAFSA] and the Cal Grant GPA Verification Form
Last year alone:
More than 13,000 students and families and over 100 post-secondary institutions and career exhibitors attended the college & Career Convention
More than 7,000 students and 5,000 family members attended over 130 Cash for College Day Workshops to receive one-on-one assistance in completing the FAFSA and Cal Grant forms
