The Department of Building and Safety is responsible for construction permit inspections within the City of Los Angeles. After obtaining the required permit(s) for the work you intend to do, you can request an inspection by using our Internet Request For Inspection System (IRFIS). IRFIS has the capability to schedule an inspection request for any permit, with the exception of Elevator or Pressure Vessel, regardless of whether it was obtained at an LADBS office or on the internet via e-Permit and registration is not required to schedule an inspection. IRFIS allows an inspection to be scheduled for the next business day before 9:00 p.m.
