LA Sanitation develops near and long term plans for water resources. The existing 2020 plan is called the Water Integrated Resources Plan (IRP). It consists of projects and policy directions on wastewater, water conservation, stormwater and recycled water programs, such as sewer projects, advanced water treatment at reclamation plants, rain barrels, smart irrigation, water efficient fixtures and appliances, drought tolerant planting principles, etc. We keep stakeholders engaged through a variety of methods including public outreach and education.
Building on the successful implementation of the Water Integrated Resources Plan (IRP) and in consideration of evolving financial, social and sustainability factors, the City of Los Angeles is now embarking on developing the One Water Los Angeles Plan. As a continuation of the Water IRP, One Water LA is a collaborative approach to integrate the management of the City's water resources and water facilities in an environmentally, economically and socially beneficial manner, and will be developed in collaboration with key stakeholders and the general public. One Water website: www.lacitysan.org/irp/OneWater.htm
